Acess to the camp is by a dirt track just off the Mohan-Marchula road. Driving time from Delhi is 07 hrs. The nearest Railway station is Ram Nagar - from wkere pick up by jeep is available.
Dhikala at the heart of the core area is picturesquely located at the edge of a grassy plateau perched high above the Ramganga reservoir and set into a bend in the river. The grasslands of the Dhikala Chaur disappear into the dense sal forests of the foothills. You can view birds & wild life from watch towers and by taking an elephant ride. A range of accommodation is available at Dhikala, including room cabins, forest rest houses, three-bedded huts and dormitories. Restaurants, a library, a field post office, first aid centre, an open air theatre and a provision store are some of the other facilities available for visitors. The lodge has been created like a forest dak-bungalow from a bygone era. This is an exclusive place - with only eight rooms and four one-room cottages. The interiors are crafted with fireplaces, wooden ceilings, stone facade, lightwood furniture, well equipped toilets and showers. There is an atmospheric lounge with fireplace, sit out, dining facilities, and a swimming pool More than 400 species of birds have been spotted in and around Betalghat. This makes it an ideal place for birding.
Hosted by experienced naturalists, it is a a small-scale jungle camp which is in harmony with its superb natural setting, overlooking the River Boar and facing the Himalayan foothills. 5 well-finished and tastefully furnished cottages with double beds and attached baths provide all modern comforts. The design provides good ventilation and the roofs are topped with thatch grass which gives good insulation in all weather conditions. Each cottage is equipped with its own solar panel for water heating. Tented accommodation with individual bathrooms is also available. In the centre of the camp the large thatched roundhouse is the focus for evenings spent round the camp-fire. An elevated dining room offers a view of the camp and surrounding jungle. There is a well-equipped nature library and quiet jungle sit-outs nearby. The nearby River Boar offers excellent birding walks. Food is of a high standard and comprises both Indian and western dishes. Drinking water is piped from a mountain source and purified. All cooking is personally supervised by the owners.

Kathgodam is 30 kms, whilst the.Corbett Tiger Reserve is 30 km west of the
Camp and is easily reached by a day excursion. |
